As part of Read Across America, Blanchette educators put a fun twist on reading when they turned out the lights for “Flashlight Friday”.
Students brought flashlights to use during the reading celebration, everything from finger-flashlights to headlamps.
“We want our kids to be excited about reading independently,” said reading coach Danna Fontenot. “We shut off all the lights to create the right atmosphere! I don’t think it’s been this quiet all year!”
Due to the event’s success, Blanchette plans to have “Flashlight Friday” once a month.
